Death Sentence Issued for Killers of Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr

Iraq’s National Security Agency announces death‍ sentences for two perpetrators involved in the 1980 martyrdom of Ayatollah Sayed Mohammad Baqir ‌al-Sadr ‌and his sister⁣ Bint al-Huda.

Iraq’s National Security Agency ‍confirmed Monday that the country’s criminal court has issued death sentences for those responsible ‍for the execution of Ayatollah Mohammad Baqir al-Sadr and his sister Bint al-Huda, according to a⁤ report by webangah​ News Agency citing Al-Sumaria.

The ‌agency’s media center stated⁣ that the competent criminal court convicted two⁣ individuals-Saadoun Sabri and Haitham Abdulaziz-after proving their involvement in the 1980 killings. The victims⁢ included innocent civilians as well as members of the⁤ Islamic ⁢Dawa Party during​ Iraq’s ⁣former regime.

The iraqi agency emphasized that both convicts had collaborated with​ the former⁤ regime,holding positions ⁤within its oppressive​ security apparatus.‌ They confessed⁤ to ⁣participating in the murders at Jisr Diyala district.
