According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Sheikh Ghazal, head of the Supreme islamic Alawite Council in Syria, issued a statement saying that terrorist actions are creating divisions within Syrian society.
The statement reads: “These actions justify violence under the guise of religion. We do not accept the findings announced by fact-finding committees concerning recent crimes in Syria as these committees attempt to portray perpetrators in a favorable light. They have mixed truth with falsehood and seek to mislead public opinion.”
Sheikh Ghazal added: “What the Syrian rulers did with the Druze community is a repeat of crimes committed against the Alawites.”
He called for immediate international intervention and establishment of independent fact-finding committees to examine crimes against civilians. He warned, “The continuation of current conditions threatens SyriaS territorial integrity and unity.”
