ASEAN Establishes AI Safety Network to Guide Responsible Innovation

The Secretary-general of the ​Association of⁣ Southeast ‌Asian Nations (ASEAN)‍ announced the launch of an AI safety network within the bloc aimed at⁢ promoting ethical advancement‌ of emerging technologies and strengthening regional cooperation.

According ‍to the English section of webangah News Agency, ⁣citing ​Mehr​ News Agency and TV BRICS, ASEAN has established the “AI Safe” network to develop unified standards for artificial intelligence safety. The initiative seeks to enhance transparency, ⁢trust, and accountability in AI while expanding digital cooperation across‍ the region.

At⁢ the Global​ Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, ASEAN Secretary-General Kiad Kim Horne introduced this initiative.He stressed the importance of‍ international partnerships, especially within China’s ASEAN Digital Action Plan through 2025. He ‍called ​for global synergy to ensure that ​AI development⁣ aligns with human-centered interests.

He also welcomed the creation⁢ of China’s ASEAN ‍Artificial Intelligence Centre designed to⁤ guide responsible deployment ⁢of AI​ technology throughout‍ Southeast Asia.

kiad further praised activities by China’s ASEAN Digital Academy aimed ‍at ⁣addressing digital skill disparities-particularly among small businesses and underserved communities-and urged closer‍ collaboration between governments, industries, and academic institutions. This cooperation aims to guarantee ethical,inclusive,and sustainable AI development across the region.
