Australia Recognizes the State of Palestine

In response to⁢ growing public outrage over images of starving children in Gaza, Australia has⁢ announced its recognition of the State of Palestine.

According to the English section of​ webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Israel’s Times of ​Israel, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that⁣ he discussed the Gaza crisis ⁤with UK⁤ counterpart Keir Starmer. He⁤ reiterated his government’s strong support for the so-called two-state solution.

The australian Prime Minister added that Starmer mentioned Britain’s readiness⁣ to recognize the State of Palestine at the United ‌Nations General ⁣Assembly in September, responding to ​increasing public anger⁤ over images of hungry‍ children in Gaza.

In a related progress, Australian⁢ Treasurer Jim Chalmers told ABC News that it ⁣is a matter⁣ of when-not⁢ if-australia ⁣will recognize Palestine. Though,he ⁢declined to specify a timeline for​ this decision.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark⁢ Carney announced his country’s decision​ to recognize Palestine at the ​upcoming UN General Assembly session scheduled ​for September. Canada’s recognition is conditional ​on⁤ the Palestinian Authority committing to necessary reforms.
