According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Israel’s Times of Israel, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that he discussed the Gaza crisis with UK counterpart Keir Starmer. He reiterated his government’s strong support for the so-called two-state solution.
The australian Prime Minister added that Starmer mentioned Britain’s readiness to recognize the State of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in September, responding to increasing public anger over images of hungry children in Gaza.
In a related progress, Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers told ABC News that it is a matter of when-not if-australia will recognize Palestine. Though,he declined to specify a timeline for this decision.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced his country’s decision to recognize Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly session scheduled for September. Canada’s recognition is conditional on the Palestinian Authority committing to necessary reforms.
