According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and India Today, US President Donald Trump described reports that india may stop buying Russian oil as a “good step,” expressing cautious optimism.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said, “I’ve heard that India no longer intends to purchase oil from Russia. That’s what I’ve heard. I don’t know if it’s true or not,but it’s a good step!”
His remarks come amid increased scrutiny in the United States regarding India’s ongoing energy and defense relations with Russia-an issue intensified by the ongoing war in Ukraine and broader US efforts to economically isolate Russia.
Although New delhi has not officially confirmed such a move, Trump’s claim represents the first public US government stance on India’s potential policy shift.
