Hungary: Russians Have No Plans to Invade Europe

Hungarian Prime ⁤Minister says the‌ European Union should not base ‍its policies on a ‘threat from Russia’ that does not exist.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,‌ citing Mehr News‌ Agency and Reuters, Hungarian⁤ Prime Minister viktor Orbán‌ criticized Europe’s approach toward Russia, stressing that shaping policies based on a “threat from Russia” only ⁤leads to mistakes.

Orbán stated, “The assumption that the Russians are‌ coming to occupy our land is ‍unrealistic, and we should not base our policymaking⁣ on this premise ‍because unrealistic assumptions ‌only result in errors.”

He added, “Russia is currently not in a position to threaten Europe. Europe has ‍more soldiers and ‌stronger armies and also enjoys support from‌ its ⁣key NATO ally-the⁢ United States.”

The Hungarian politician ⁣noted, ”If⁣ we look at military⁢ budgets, we see that the total‍ defence budget of the European Union is several ⁤times greater than Russia’s.”

He emphasized, ⁣”That is why Europeans-including Poland, ⁢Hungary, and Romania-have⁢ nothing to fear. I do not believe these countries face any military threat.”

Budapest has consistently criticized EU sanctions against ⁤Russia ‌and called for resolving the Ukraine war through diplomatic means.
