For the first time in 600 years, a volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula erupted last night.
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, the volcanic activity group in Kamchatka announced that Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia’s Far Eastern peninsula became active for the first time in six centuries.
The report states that yesterday explosive eruptions sent ash plumes reaching up to four kilometers above sea level.
It also notes that this volcanic activity may be linked to a recent powerful earthquake that shook eastern Russia.
