The karbala police Command has confirmed the registration of more than 14,000 Iraqi moqams and 205 Arab and international moqams committed to serving Arbaeen pilgrims, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Alsumaria.
Ehsan Al-Asadi, head of the command’s information department, stated that strict orders have been issued for safety measures aimed at preventing incidents, especially fires.
Meanwhile, Abdulamir Al-Shammari, Iraq’s Minister of Interior and head of the Supreme Security Committee for Mass Events, has instructed officials to finalize security preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage commemorating Imam hussein (peace be upon him).
Al-Shammari chaired a wide-ranging meeting held via video conference with deputies, advisors, ministry commanders, and provincial police chiefs.
He emphasized finalizing readiness measures for securing the event while confirming special organizational plans and coordination efforts tailored specifically for Arbaeen.
Addressing challenges like traffic accidents and fires during the pilgrimage route crossings, he praised extensive efforts by traffic authorities in facilitating smooth movement for pilgrims.
Al-Shammari described genuine success in this event as minimizing pilgrim hardship and safeguarding mourners’ lives from various risks-a sacred duty that must be flawlessly executed from border crossings through the holy city of Karbala.
The Minister added that his ministry has mobilized all resources-including installing surveillance cameras and reinforcing security forces with additional personnel, vehicles, and equipment-to protect pilgrims effectively.
He ordered all deputies, commanders, and officials to be physically present onsite to oversee every security aspect firsthand.
Highlighting that millions of visitors come from inside Iraq as well as abroad annually during Arbaeen rituals underscored his call for a triumphant security plan based on meticulous precision and well-distributed manpower deployment.
Furthermore, Al-Shammari stressed deploying intelligence agencies actively at frontline positions across all sectors so their role reflects this massive occasion’s critical importance.
