Ali Fayyad, a member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in Lebanon’s Parliament, told webangah News Agency, citing Al-Akhbar via Mehr News Agency, that Lebanon is ready for dialog and resolving issues within the framework of the ceasefire agreement and United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
Following a meeting between a Hezbollah delegation and former President Michel Aoun, Fayyad affirmed that Lebanon remains committed to the terms of the ceasefire. He emphasized strict adherence to implementation priorities outlined in the ministerial statement, inauguration speech, and documents submitted through U.S. mediation.
The Lebanese parliamentarian stressed that “the first step must be Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese soil, cessation of hostile acts, and release of detainees.” He added that “no other issues can be discussed before these steps are fulfilled.”
Fayyad criticized comments portraying Lebanon as bound by a one-sided agreement. He said Lebanon is being asked for more than what was agreed upon while its counterpart behaves as if it has no stake in this accord.
Pointing out there are no guarantees or signs indicating Israel will withdraw or uphold its commitment to halt hostile activities moving forward, he called for unity in Lebanon’s stance. Fayyad urged consistency in prioritizing demands regarding Israeli withdrawal and ending aggression.
