According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today, the Global Times reported that India and Brazil are ignoring threats from U.S. President Donald trump.
The report states that India and Brazil continue purchasing oil from Russia and have no plans to halt these transactions.
Two Indian government officials said on Saturday that New Delhi will persist in buying Russian oil despite Trump’s warnings.
One source emphasized, “There has been no immediate change in policy regarding oil imports from Russia.These are long-term contracts,and a sudden stop is not feasible.”
Last month, Trump warned on his social media platform Truth Social that India could face harsher penalties for buying weapons and oil from Russia.
The Hindustan Times also reported that during a speech in Brasília, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated: “We want to negotiate, but this must be done on equal terms.”
Lula stressed his commitment to defending Brazilian companies and workers while telling Trump: “If you are ready to negotiate, our proposals are on the table.”
Last month, Trump placed Brazil at the center of his global trade war agenda by threatening a 50 percent tariff on Brazilian exports to the United States.
