The english section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters,reports that according to a notice published in the Federal Register,the official journal of the U.S. federal government, officials plan to mandate a $15,000 bond for some applicants seeking tourist or business visas.
This pilot program is set to start within two weeks as part of ongoing U.S. efforts to combat illegal immigration. It will target individuals who overstay their visa expiration dates.
According to the notice,U.S. consular officers have been authorized to impose bonding requirements on applicants from countries with high rates of immigration violations. The bond may also apply to citizens whose identity information is deemed insufficient.
Donald Trump has initiated widespread deportations of undocumented immigrants since his second presidential term began in January 2025 by increasing resources focused on border security and detaining illegal immigrants on American soil. He has previously called for stricter immigration policies and declared his intent to carry out the largest expulsion operation in U.S. history.
