Al-Rashq: 233 Palestinian Journalists Have Been Killed

A member of⁤ Hamas’s political bureau announced that since the outbreak of war against Gaza 22 months ago, 233 journalists and media activists in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem have been killed.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr⁤ News Agency ⁣and‍ Shehab News Agency, Ezzat al-Rishq, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, expressed support for the‌ global initiative “Freedom to Report,” launched by 200 prominent journalists worldwide. He stated: “We back the ‘Freedom to Report’ initiative ⁣calling for the immediate and uncensored entry of foreign⁢ journalists into Gaza for free ‌and ‌autonomous coverage of the genocide and starvation warfare.”

He emphasized⁤ that the occupier regime’s policy of blocking foreign reporters is a blatant violation of press freedom. It is a purposeful act to prevent global public awareness of crimes in Gaza and reflects the regime’s fear of exposing its atrocities and terrorist actions.

Al-Rishq further stated that as the ‌beginning of hostilities against⁤ Gaza over these past 22 months, 233 ‌journalists and media activists across ⁢gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem have ‌been martyred. This forms part of an ongoing record of Israeli crimes against⁢ media workers.

He concluded by calling for increased international pressure.”The ⁢global community must condemn Israel’s crimes against media personnel in⁢ legal terms,” he said. “It should compel this regime to allow international media access to Gaza so that the world can witness firsthand⁣ the truth about genocide, starvation, and systematic destruction impacting life there.”
