According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Bloomberg, the Kremlin is exploring options to show goodwill toward the United States as part of efforts to reach a ceasefire in Ukraine. One such option includes an aerial ceasefire with Ukraine aimed at preventing secondary sanctions against Moscow.
Bloomberg, quoting anonymous sources, reported that Steve Whitcaf’s visit-he is the U.S. envoy- to Russia this week could create an chance for Russia to reach an agreement with the U.S. management, even though expectations for success remain low.
One informed source said suspending airstrikes-including drone and missile attacks-as a step toward de-escalation might be among potential proposals, provided Ukraine agrees.
The report added that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not consent to a full ceasefire in Ukraine since Russian forces continue making advances on the battlefield and Moscow’s goals for its special military operation remain unchanged.
Bloomberg also noted it remains unclear whether any proposed restraint would include terms effectively unacceptable to Kyiv and its allies.
