Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, referring to Russia’s decision to lift restrictions on deploying intermediate- and short-range missiles, emphasized that Moscow reserves the right to take any necessary measures regarding this issue, according to the English section of webangah News agency, quoting Mehr News Agency citing TASS.
Peskov stated: “Russia no longer has any limitations in this regard and does not consider itself bound by any (treaty). Russia reserves the right to take appropriate actions on this matter if needed.”
yesterday, the Russian foreign Ministry issued a statement declaring that “Western actions in deploying intermediate-range missiles pose a direct threat to Russian security. Western measures are increasing missile capabilities near Russia’s borders,creating a direct and strategic threat to Russia’s security.”
the ministry added: “Moscow no longer considers itself obligated to observe self-imposed limits on deploying intermediate- and short-range ground-based missiles. The conditions for maintaining unilateral suspension of these missile deployments have ceased.”
