Prime minister Nawaf Salam said today’s meeting will focus on discussing mechanisms for implementing this policy.
Simultaneously occurring, Hezbollah’s media wing released a video yesterday featuring speeches by former Secretary-General Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and current Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem.Both emphasize the importance of resistance weapons and Lebanon’s national defense strategy. Supporters of Hezbollah held a rally last night in solidarity with the group.
Ali Fayyad, member of Lebanon’s Loyalty to Resistance parliamentary bloc, stated: “we are ready for dialogue and resolving issues within the framework of ceasefire agreements and UN Resolution 1701.”
Following a meeting between Hezbollah officials and former president Michel Aoun, Fayyad said: “The first step must be Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, cessation of hostile acts, and prisoner release.Until these conditions are met,no other discussions can take place.”
