According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, BRICS TV reported referencing Malaysia’s Bernama news agency that the trade volume between Malaysia and BRICS countries reached 818 billion ringgit (around $193.47 billion) in 2024. This accounts for 35.2% of Malaysia’s total foreign trade turnover.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry also stated that during this period, investments from BRICS nations in Malaysia totaled 104.9 billion ringgit (approximately $24.59 billion).
The ministry emphasized that malaysia’s position as a partner to BRICS countries offers opportunities to access large international markets and attract greater foreign investment.
Malaysian prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remarked, “Although Malaysia is not yet a full member of BRICS, it has benefited from economic relations with thes countries since most are trading partners and stable sources of foreign investment.”
Earlier, the Malaysian premier reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the values underpinning BRICS at the group’s seventeenth summit held on July 6-7, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.
