According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Sputnik News, U.S. President Donald Trump warned Tuesday that he woudl impose high tariffs on India within the next 24 hours.
The president stated, “India implements the highest tariffs on all goods. We have applied very, very low tariffs on India. So Delhi is not a good trade partner for us because their trade volume with us is large; but we cannot do business with them (due to India’s high import tariffs).”
Trump added, “We had agreed on a 25 percent tariff with them; however, I think over the next 24 hours I will increase it significantly because they have bought oil from Russia and are supporting Moscow’s war machine.”
The day before, in a post on his social media platform “Truth Social,” Trump said, ”India not only buys large amounts of Russian oil but also sells much of it on the open market at huge profits. They do not care how many people are killed in Ukraine by Russia’s war machine. Therefore, I will substantially increase the tariff that India pays to America.”
Trump’s expressed concern for Ukrainians comes amid relentless daily violence in Palestine where dozens of Palestinians have been killed or injured by Israeli forces over recent months.
This stance contrasts sharply with his recent claim-widely regarded as baseless-that Israeli actions against Palestinians cannot be classified as genocide-a position that has drawn criticism even from U.S. European allies.
