Ulyanov: China Will Buy Russian Oil According to Its National Interests

Russia’s‌ representative to international organizations announced: ‌China’s‌ foreign Ministry stated that U.S. pressure will not be effective; Beijing will‍ defend it’s‌ sovereignty and purchase oil according to its national interests.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, saeid Tuesday in‌ a ‍message on ⁢the social media platform X that China has rejected​ the United States’⁤ request to stop purchasing‌ Russian oil, according to⁣ the English‌ section of webangah News Agency citing Mehr‌ News Agency.

Ulyanov added that China’s foreign Ministry declared​ U.S. pressure​ would ⁤not succeed. beijing will ⁣protect its‍ sovereignty and buy oil in line with ‌its‌ national ‌interests.

The Associated ⁣Press reported Monday, amid ongoing trade talks between the United States and China, that while an agreement on many issues and the removal⁢ of punitive ‍tariffs appears⁤ possible, one major disagreement remains ‌distant: America’s demand that China stop buying ‍oil from Iran and Russia.

Following two days of trade negotiations in Stockholm, China’s Foreign Ministry ⁤responded to the threat of a 100 percent U.S. tariff by stating ​that ⁣it consistently secures energy supplies through channels that satisfy‍ its ​interests. “Threats and pressure⁢ will get nowhere,” it said.Beijing affirmed it will firmly defend its sovereign, security, ‍and developmental interests.
