Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia’s permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, saeid Tuesday in a message on the social media platform X that China has rejected the United States’ request to stop purchasing Russian oil, according to the English section of webangah News Agency citing Mehr News Agency.
Ulyanov added that China’s foreign Ministry declared U.S. pressure would not succeed. beijing will protect its sovereignty and buy oil in line with its national interests.
The Associated Press reported Monday, amid ongoing trade talks between the United States and China, that while an agreement on many issues and the removal of punitive tariffs appears possible, one major disagreement remains distant: America’s demand that China stop buying oil from Iran and Russia.
Following two days of trade negotiations in Stockholm, China’s Foreign Ministry responded to the threat of a 100 percent U.S. tariff by stating that it consistently secures energy supplies through channels that satisfy its interests. “Threats and pressure will get nowhere,” it said.Beijing affirmed it will firmly defend its sovereign, security, and developmental interests.
