According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation reported that today’s security consultations of the Israeli cabinet have ended.
The Israeli outlet quoted a source saying that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s discussions focused on a plan to besiege Gaza City and also refugee camps in central Gaza.
The Jerusalem Post, citing an official within the Israeli regime, wrote that the outcome of this meeting leans toward a full occupation of the Gaza Strip. This was similarly reported by Israel’s Public Broadcasting Corporation.
According to thes reports, today’s security consultations addressed issues related to blockading Gaza.
Haaretz cited sources who stated that Israel’s Chief of General staff and senior security commanders warned any military operation in areas where hostages are held would result in their deaths.
The sources added that the army raised concerns about fatigue among regular soldiers, reservists, and military equipment readiness.
The newspaper also noted officials from Israel’s security apparatus said occupying gaza would impact reserve forces substantially.Such an operation would require pulling troops from other fronts and mobilizing tens of thousands of reservists.
Additionally, Israel’s military radio quoted two Netanyahu confidants reporting that if Israel’s Chief of General Staff opposes occupying Gaza, he should submit his resignation.
While emphasizing after this meeting that the army favors occupying central Gaza camps, Israel’s Public Broadcasting Corporation reported plans for further meetings within both the security cabinet and full cabinet to discuss expanding operations in Gaza.
