41 European Parliament Members Call to Suspend Trade Relations with Israel

Forty-one Members of the European Parliament Call for Suspension of Trade⁢ Relations with israel

according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News⁢ Agency and the Palestinian Information Center, in an unprecedented response to‍ ongoing Israeli⁢ crimes ‍in Gaza and the West Bank, 41 Members ⁤of the European Parliament officially called on ​Tuesday for ​suspending⁢ trade relations and halting the implementation ​of the EU-Israel association agreement.This demand responds to ‍Israel’s persistent disregard for international law ⁣amid continued warfare⁤ and genocide ‌in Gaza.

The MEPs,representing Spain,Sweden,France,Slovenia,Portugal,belgium,Malta,Denmark,Italy,Ireland,Romania,Finland,Greece,Lithuania,cyprus,and Slovakia addressed their ‍letter to Ursula von der Leyen (President of the European Commission),António Costa (President of the European Council),and josep Borrell (EU high Representative for⁤ Foreign Affairs).

Referencing‍ over 60 thousand Palestinian deaths in Gaza so far they wrote: “Humanitarian aid has become a weapon for‌ collective starvation while ⁢Israeli crimes are turning ⁢into ‌official state policy.”

The letter demands an immediate ceasefire⁢ in Gaza; release of⁢ all prisoners; suspension of the association agreement with⁣ Israel ‍under⁣ article 2; full restoration of ‍UNRWA’s role; wide-ranging sanctions against Israeli settlers including‌ revoking dual citizenships; travel bans; and ⁢asset freezes.

They⁣ further ⁣emphasized that a two-state solution remains the only lasting path to ending conflict-a position ‌also backed by Saudi Arabia, france ‍and nineteen other countries at a ⁢recent United Nations conference.

the MEPs warned that “we face an organized campaign aimed at destroying the Palestinian people” ranging from famine tactics and bombings in ⁢Gaza to ‍systematic harassment and land confiscation ‍in the West Bank.
