The English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, reported that The Atlantic magazine cited U.S. officials saying the continuation of the conflict between Russia and ukraine has been a major disappointment for former President Donald Trump.
The magazine added that Trump believed his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin would quickly end the conflict in Ukraine.
The Atlantic also wrote that Putin exploited the respect Trump had for him, openly challenged him, and cornered him by ignoring his calls for a ceasefire.
According to The Atlantic,Trump is still considering direct sanctions against Putin.
Aide to the Russian president announced today that Putin and Trump are scheduled to meet next week.
Yuri Ushakov said this meeting date was set as part of initial arrangements but noted it remains tough to finalize exact timing. Both sides are working on coordinating it.
