According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr news Agency and Al-Mayadeen, Liu Binggui, spokesperson for China’s embassy in the United States, stated that Washington’s attempts to force Beijing to cut ties with Moscow will lead nowhere.
He stressed that the international community, including China, maintains normal cooperation with Russia within the framework of international law. This cooperation is considered ”legitimate and reasonable, causing no harm to any third party, and deserving respect and support.”
The Chinese diplomat noted that Beijing has consistently opposed “illegal and unjustifiable unilateral sanctions” and also “extraterritorial jurisdiction” imposed by the U.S.
Liu Binggui also asserted that “there are no winners in tariff wars,” emphasizing that coercion and pressure will not succeed.
Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his administration is considering imposing tariffs on China similar to those enacted on India due to its purchase of Russian oil.
The White House announced on Wednesday a 25 percent tariff on India under Trump’s executive order, claiming New Delhi “directly or indirectly imports oil from Russia.”
