Lebanese Protest U.S. Proposal Approved by Government + Video

lebanese citizens ‌held protests to express ⁢their opposition to the approval of ‌a US-backed ⁢plan by the country’s government.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and ⁢Russia Al-Youm, Lebanese citizens gathered in beirut’s ⁢southern suburb ⁣of Dahieh to condemn the government’s approval of the American plan.

Lebanon’s Minister of ‌Data, Paul Marwan Marcus, announced earlier that the cabinet had agreed to the demands presented by the US envoy. He added that during today’s meeting, members⁤ did not⁤ discuss detailed aspects or set a timeline for implementation.

He‌ further stated that Lebanon’s government consented to maintaining exclusive control over arms within state sovereignty and allowed deployment of army forces in southern Lebanon. Marcus‍ also claimed that during the session, ‍emphasis was placed on requiring Israel’s withdrawal from five ⁣points in southern Lebanon.

The Minister noted that cabinet members agreed to end all armed ⁢activities throughout Lebanon, including those by Hezbollah.

This development⁤ came as⁤ ministers from Amal Movement and Hezbollah-namely Tamara‌ al-Zein,⁤ Rakan Nasrallah, ⁤and Muhammad Haidar Wafadi Maki-withdrew⁢ from the cabinet meeting.

Earlier reports indicated that if insistence on implementing US demands ‌regarding disarmament of resistance groups persisted at this meeting, ministers from Hezbollah and Amal would exit in protest.
