The Israeli military announced on sunday the start of a surprise exercise designed to evaluate the preparedness of its General Staff and command centers. Ordered by Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir, the drill aims to assess the Israeli army’s real-time readiness and capabilities to respond to large-scale attacks.
A spokesperson for the Israeli military said that at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, a surprise drill commenced at the General Staff level to test alertness and combat readiness across all main commands.
The spokesperson added that this exercise includes several realistic scenarios across various fronts. It incorporates lessons learned from the events of October 7 and involves most branches and commands within the israeli army, including special forces units.
Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir was present at high-command headquarters during the exercise, inspecting different sections, assessing conditions on site, and reviewing air force and naval readiness alongside senior commanders.
The spokesperson further highlighted that complex scenarios are being enacted to test how well the army can transition from routine status to an emergency posture while evaluating senior commanders’ performance under pressure.
