Anas Al-Sharif’s body was buried after he was fatally wounded during an attack by the Israeli regime targeting journalists’ tents in Gaza. Until his assassination, he remained alongside the hungry and served as a voice for people suffering through famine and war.
Anas Al-Sharif, an Al Jazeera reporter, was killed alongside fellow journalist Mohammad Qoriqah during an assault on the press camp at al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza by Israeli forces.
The attack also claimed the lives of two photojournalists, Ibrahim Zahir and Mohammad Nufal, along with another individual.
Sence October 7, the 365-kilometer Gaza Strip has become one of the most perilous locations globally for media coverage.
Journalists-many of whom are Palestinian residents of Gaza working under extremely hazardous conditions-are living through one of their bloodiest periods. Reporting amid internet and power outages presents enormous challenges. Moreover, they are systematically targeted by Israeli forces to prevent media from exposing ethnic cleansing crimes committed by occupying forces.
Since hostilities began against Gaza 22 months ago, 235 journalists and media activists have been killed across Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
