According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and WAM news agency, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry welcomed Australia’s decision to recognise the State of Palestine.
the ministry’s statement read: “Saudi Arabia welcomes Australia’s determination to recognize the State of Palestine and also New Zealand’s announced consideration of recognizing the State of Palestine.”
It added that saudi Arabia praises the international consensus supporting a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement emphasized Riyadh’s commitment to advancing recognition of the State of Palestine and reiterated its support for efforts to end the prolonged war in Gaza, especially considering Tel Aviv’s violations of international humanitarian law.
australian Prime Minister anthony Albanese announced his country’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine. He confirmed that Australia will grant recognition at the United Nations General Assembly, contingent on commitments from the Palestinian Authority.
Without addressing Western countries’ support for Israeli actions in Gaza, Albanese described conditions in Gaza as catastrophic and noted ongoing breaches by Tel Aviv against international law.
The Australian leader also asserted interventionist remarks claiming that Hamas has no place in a future Palestinian state. He stated: “I have told Netanyahu that we need a political rather than military solution in Gaza.”
Previously, several Western countries had expressed willingness to recognize Palestine but imposed various conditions on this step-conditions widely viewed as more symbolic than substantive for their international image.
