according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Shehab, Israel’s channel 7 reported that Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, told lawmakers during a parliamentary commission meeting that he instructed the mayor of Neshar, near occupied Haifa, to order the demolition of Izz al-Din al-Qassam’s grave.
He added that police forces would carry out this mission.
Izz al-Din al-Qassam was a Syrian fighter and religious scholar renowned as an anti-colonial and anti-Zionist leader. He founded the first armed jihadist organization in Palestine during the 19th and 20th centuries (13th and 14th centuries AH).
This statement has heightened concerns within Israeli circles about escalating tensions in the occupied territories, given martyr al-Qassam’s high status among Palestinians.
