According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, German chancellor Friedrich Merz said today in a virtual consultation with U.S. President Donald Trump that “we want Trump to succeed in his friday meeting with Putin (in Alaska).”
The German Chancellor added that European and Ukrainian security interests must be preserved during the Alaska meeting, emphasizing that they made this clear to Trump.He underscored that establishing a ceasefire in Ukraine should be a priority in any agreement.
According to CNN, after the EU summit’s session with President Trump, Merz stated that ”significant decisions” might be made during the upcoming meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin on Friday in Alaska.
Speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin, Merz said: “Therefore, we Europeans will make every effort to ensure this meeting proceeds properly. We want President Trump to be accomplished on Friday in Anchorage.”
