UN: Israeli Attacks Have Contributed to Famine Outbreak in Gaza

The United Nations ​Office of the High Commissioner for Human‍ Rights has ⁤warned that Israeli ⁣attacks ⁢are exacerbating‌ famine in Gaza and has called on Tel Aviv to ‌stop targeting aid workers‌ and Palestinians ⁣awaiting⁣ humanitarian assistance.

The United Nations Office of ⁤the High Commissioner for⁣ Human Rights urged Israel⁢ to ‌promptly halt attacks on groups providing aid in Gaza, according to the English section⁤ of webangah ‌News Agency.

In its statement, the UN called ‌on Tel Aviv to fulfill its international obligations by facilitating the⁢ delivery of ⁣humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Highlighting ⁤that “Israeli attacks have considerably ⁤contributed to famine among ‍civilians in Gaza,” the statement added that​ Israel’s assaults deliberately and repeatedly target those supporting humanitarian convoys.

the UN emphasized​ that these attacks against aid workers worsen chaos and hunger in Gaza. As May 27, it ⁤has‍ documented at least 1,769 deaths among Palestinians waiting for aid. The statement stressed that all⁣ such violations must‍ be ‌investigated promptly and independently, with those responsible held‍ accountable.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Oxfam-a leading international ‌organization​ combating poverty,⁢ hunger, and injustice-told Al Jazeera ​that ongoing ⁣bombardments and drone flights severely hinder thier operations⁢ in⁤ Gaza.

The spokesperson noted purposeful ‌delays by Israel in granting‌ permits⁤ for Oxfam staff ⁢to bring in supplies.Under security pretexts, Tel Aviv refuses entry of essential equipment such as power generators.

Oxfam’s representative underscored that‌ Israel employs obstruction tactics as a⁣ weapon to discourage relief efforts aimed at‍ residents​ of Gaza.
