According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and Al jazeera, the leader of Lebanon’s Lebanese Forces party responded to Hezbollah Deputy Secretary-general Sheikh Naim Qassem’s speech on Arbaeen by declaring his comments unacceptable and directly threatening to the Lebanese government.
Samir Geagea, a firm opponent of resistance movements in Lebanon, argued that Qassem’s statements pose a threat to the majority of parliament members who voted confidence in the Lebanese government.
Ignoring Lebanon’s government stance-pressured by the U.S. to disarm resistance groups rather than confront Israeli violations-Geagea added: “If Naim Qassem believes he can impose his demands on free Lebanese people, he is gravely mistaken, as an overwhelming majority support constitutional institutions including both the president and prime minister.”
these remarks from geagea came as Prime Minister Nawaf salam responded to sheikh Naim Qassem’s comments by suggesting they implied a latent threat of civil war within Lebanon.
Addressing Lebanon’s government on Friday, Sheikh Naim Qassem said: “If you feel powerless, leave confronting the enemy to us. Just as Israel’s successive wars have failed before, this time will be no different. The government’s duty is building the country-not handing it over to Israel and America.”
