According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing RIA Novosti via Mehr News Agency, Germany’s government spokesperson Stephan Cornelius stated today, Sunday, that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will travel to Washington on Monday to participate in the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The German government spokesperson added that the purpose of this trip is to exchange details with Trump following the Alaska summit.
Stephan Cornelius noted that discussions will focus on security issues, territorial matters, continued support for Ukraine, and sanctions against Moscow.
European Commission President Ursula von der leyen previously announced on the social media platform X that she will join Zelensky’s meeting with President Trump at the White House tomorrow upon his request.
Von der Leyen wrote on X: “This afternoon in brussels I will welcome Volodymyr zelensky. Together we will participate in a video conference of the ‘Coalition of Supporters.’”
Additionally, U.S. President Donald Trump earlier said he would meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky Monday evening at the white House to discuss an agreement aimed at ending the war between Moscow and Kyiv.
