According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing politico, ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Kyiv is prepared to negotiate territorial adjustments as part of a peace agreement to end the conflict with Russia, but will not cede territories not occupied by Moscow’s forces.
Speaking to journalists in Brussels, Zelensky stated, “We need real negotiations, meaning they can start from where the current frontline is – the contact line is the best place for talks.”
Zelensky made these remarks during a press conference alongside European Commission President Ursula von der leyen before departing for Washington to meet U.S.President Donald Trump on Monday.
The ukrainian leader added that Russia has failed in its attempt since 2014 to fully control parts of Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
zelensky emphasized that because territorial issues are highly sensitive, such matters shoudl only be discussed by Ukrainian and russian leaders during trilateral talks involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia. So far, Moscow has shown no willingness to participate in these trilateral meetings. Should Russia refuse participation, new sanctions must be imposed against it. He stressed that “Ukraine’s constitution prohibits any transfer or exchange of territory.”
