France Reacts to Israeli Decision to Close Its Consulate in Jerusalem

France’s Foreign Ministry warns: We will respond strongly to Tel Aviv’s decision⁢ to close the Paris consulate in Jerusalem.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, France’s Foreign ⁤Ministry⁣ responded today, ‍Monday, to the recent threats by Israeli occupation authorities against Paris.

The French Foreign ⁣Ministry told Al Jazeera ​Mubasher: ‌”We‌ have not received any notification from Israel regarding the closure of our consulate⁣ in Jerusalem.”

The ministry’s ‍statement added: “We will ​respond strongly to Tel Aviv’s decision. ⁢Israel’s ⁢move to close our consulate ‍in Jerusalem harms our ​relations and will provoke a response.”

Simultaneously occurring,​ Gideon sa’ar, Israel’s ⁢Foreign‌ Minister, previously urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet to take action ⁣on shutting down France’s ⁣consulate in occupied Jerusalem.

This request from Sa’ar came as a reaction ⁢to France’s position on recognizing the State of Palestine.

The issue was discussed during yesterday’s​ Israeli cabinet meeting.
