According to teh english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke after a White House meeting involving Donald Trump, european leaders, and volodymyr Zelensky, president of Ukraine. He saeid: “We are working to build a strong alliance between Europe and Ukraine.”
He added that France is cooperating with the United States to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
Macron stated that if an agreement is not achieved, a list of additional sanctions and regional pressures against russia must be prepared.
The French president claimed at the White House summit that all attendees desire peace.
He emphasized that only through holding a trilateral meeting can the issue be resolved.”When we talk about security guarantees,” he said, “we mean the security of the entire European continent.”
Macron reiterated that stopping the killings and establishing a ceasefire are prerequisites for any trilateral summit. To secure Europe’s safety, he stressed the need for a strong Ukrainian military.
The joint meeting between Trump, European leaders, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, and Ukrainian President Zelensky concluded hours earlier. During it, Trump remarked that “the outlook for the war in Ukraine will become clearer within one or two weeks.”
Afterward, US President Trump said: “I had a very good meeting with esteemed guests Vladimir Zelenskyy, Emmanuel Macron, Alexander Stubb [likely referring to Alexander Stubb], Giorgia Meloni,Kier Starmer-the British Prime Minister-Friedrich Merz [President of the European Commission], Ursula von der Leyen [European Commission President], and NATO Secretary-general Mark Rutte here at the White House.”
He explained: “during our session we discussed security guarantees for Ukraine proposed by various European countries in coordination with the United States.”
The US president announced he contacted Russian President Vladimir Putin after concluding talks and initiated arrangements for a future meeting between Putin and Zelensky at an as-yet-unspecified location.
“Following that meeting,” Trump continued,”we will hold a trilateral summit including both presidents plus myself. This is again an critically important initial step toward resolving this conflict which has lasted almost four years.”
Trump added that his deputy Jared Kushner (referred to as JD Vance), Secretary of State Marco Rubio (likely intended as another figure), and special envoy Jeff Witkoff (misspelled but referring to US special envoy) are coordinating closely with moscow and Kyiv.
The former US president concluded by saying: “Everyone is very hopeful about achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine.”
