Hamas: Awaiting Israeli Regime’s Response to New Mediators’ Proposal

A senior Hamas‌ official said the movement is awaiting Israel’s response to ⁣a new ceasefire proposal from mediators.

According to the⁣ English section of webangah News Agency, citing Palestinian Quds News Agency ⁢via Mehr News Agency, Bassem Naeem, ⁢a senior member of Hamas, stated: “We ⁢are waiting for the Zionist enemy’s response ⁣to the mediators’ new proposal following our agreement to a ceasefire.”

He added that ⁣today’s reactions from Israeli forces reflect‌ Prime⁢ minister Netanyahu’s malicious ⁣intent to continue war, genocide, and ethnic cleansing.

Naeem emphasized that⁢ the international community, especially the United States, must put‍ an⁣ end to Israel’s brutality ‍and disregard for international law and-most importantly-the value of human life. He warned that this ‍negligence⁤ will have severe consequences for both the region and the world.

Israeli media reported on ‍Tuesday that Israel has officially⁤ received ⁣Hamas’ preliminary approval of a draft plan presented by Tel Aviv concerning a prisoner exchange deal with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

A senior Palestinian ⁤source elaborating on details of the agreement told Al-Mayadeen network⁣ that Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups have accepted proposals from Egyptian ⁢and Qatari mediators. The ‍source explained ⁢that the⁣ proposal includes a 1,000-meter withdrawal from northern and eastern areas of Gaza Strip except for ‍Shujaiya and Beit ⁣Lahia.

The source added that‍ ten living Israeli prisoners⁤ would be released in exchange for 140 Palestinian ⁤prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment plus 60 prisoners serving⁤ sentences longer⁣ than 15 years.

The source stated: “According to this‌ proposal, ⁢redeployment maps in ⁤northern⁢ and eastern gaza will be amended. Urgent aid deliveries will begin promptly upon implementation of a ceasefire in large quantities through coordinated mechanisms based on January 19,⁢ 2025 agreements.”
