According to the English section of webangah News agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Israeli media report that the Defense Minister and Chief of Staff have agreed on a plan to occupy Gaza.
These sources state that the Israeli military has decided to call up 50,000 reserve soldiers earlier than planned.
Earlier reports indicated that within the framework of expanding military operations in Gaza, 60,000 reserve troops would be mobilized starting Wednesday morning.
A week ago, an Israeli outlet claimed that Lt. Gen.Eyal Zamir, Chief of staff, with authorization from the security cabinet, approved the “main plan” for occupying Gaza; this operation requires about 100,000 reservists.
The plan involves seizing northern Gaza and calls for mobilizing between 80,000 and 100,000 reserve forces for this large-scale campaign.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently announced accelerating the occupation plan for Gaza City amid warnings about extensive legal and humanitarian consequences. There are also increasing signs pointing toward possible negotiations for a ceasefire.
In his speech at the opening of the Knesset Museum in jerusalem, Netanyahu claimed Israel is approaching “the end of battle.”
