Lavrov: We Are Seriously Concerned About Conditions in Gaza and the West Bank

Russian Foreign Minister ⁣expressed concern about the situation in⁣ Gaza ​and the West bank, questioning‌ why European countries have yet to recognise Palestine and are waiting for a UN General Assembly vote.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said⁤ at ⁣a press conference with his Jordanian⁤ counterpart in Moscow: “We are truly concerned about the situation in Gaza and the West Bank and the humanitarian crisis⁣ following the October 7 attacks.”

Lavrov emphasized ⁢that establishing an autonomous Palestinian state is the only path⁢ to‌ peace in the region. He added, “We are working on⁢ just solutions that will ensure stability in the Middle East.”

“All opportunities‌ must be used to reduce tensions in Palestinian territories,” he ‌stated.

The Russian foreign minister underscored that civilians in Gaza should not be punished for the ​October 7 attacks. ‍He insisted‍ that their humanitarian needs must be guaranteed.

Lavrov further questioned, “Why do​ European countries not recognize Palestine now and instead await a United Nations‌ General Assembly ⁢session?” He criticized Europe’s⁣ lack of diplomacy both on Ukraine and Middle ⁢East crises.

Regarding developments in Syria, Lavrov noted that “Syria⁤ is going through difficult⁢ times,” adding that Russia seeks stability ⁢and respect for its territorial integrity.
