According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Sputnik, Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, strongly criticized Australian Prime Minister anthony Albanese following Australia’s decision to recognize Palestine.
Netanyahu called the Australian leader a traitor, saying history will remember him as a weak politician who abandoned israel and betrayed Australian Jews.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs also reacted by canceling visas for Australian diplomats working in the Palestinian Authority on Monday.
The ministry stated this move was in response to Australia’s recent stance on recognizing Palestine and its refusal to issue visas to Israeli officials.
The Australian Prime Minister emphasized that his country will recognize Palestine at the united Nations General Assembly but said this action depends on commitments from the Palestinian Authority.
Previously, several Western countries expressed willingness to recognize Palestine; however, they attached conditions that appear mainly designed for their international image rather than substantive policy changes.
