According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Jazeera, Israeli media revealed the new military plan approved by the israeli army to occupy Gaza City.
The plan reportedly involves a large-scale evacuation of Gaza City’s residents. Earlier, Eyal zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, approved this plan during a special session at the Gaza Brigade. Latest reports indicate that the first phase of israel’s operation to occupy Gaza City has already begun.
Two Stages in the Gaza Occupation Plan
According to Israeli media claims, this operation is divided into two main phases: The first phase began with a ground maneuver aimed at encircling the city. The second and main phase involves Israeli forces gradually entering Gaza City amid extensive aerial bombardment. Initial estimates suggest full implementation could take around four months.
The operation also entails forcibly evacuating civilians from Gaza over a minimum two-week period. Previously,Eyal Zamir stated that the army was preparing to launch a new stage of “Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” aimed at intensifying assaults against Hamas within Gaza City.
Hebrew sources noted approximately 80,000 soldiers are involved in besieging Gaza under a cabinet-approved plan led by prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that paves the way for full occupation of the Strip.
Israeli sources confirmed that 5,000 women were recruited last year for combat roles to help compensate for widespread personnel shortages in their military. Meanwhile, reserve forces continue facing attrition issues amid ultra-Orthodox Haredi extremists exempting themselves from conscription.
The Israel Defense Forces estimate its manpower shortfall exceeds 12,000 soldiers.According to Israel Army Radio, excluding Haredi recruits amid these shortages has pushed the military leadership toward seeking alternative solutions to address this deficit.
Mohamed Mustafa,an expert on Israeli affairs, said it appears Israel’s military has effectively surrendered control over operations in favor of political leaders’ decisions regarding their plans in Gaza.
He added there is meaningful concern within Israel about potential repercussions following this campaign’s launch-most notably casualties among troops due to unresolved internal divisions over war policy-which could increase public anger toward both Netanyahu’s government and armed forces.
On Wednesday, Israel announced commencement of its initial stage for occupying Gaza City and called up tens of thousands of reservists. Political analysts warn that deploying large numbers into central areas poses severe risks for occupying troops and consider Netanyahu’s gamble likely doomed with no outcome other than failure.
