The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Saudi Press Agency (SPA), reported that the Saudi Ministry of Defense signed a military partnership agreement with the U.S. National Guard for the states of Indiana and Oklahoma.
The ceremony took place at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Riyadh, attended by senior officials from both sides, along with representatives from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior and National Guard.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Saudi Ministry of Defense by Chief of Staff Field Marshal Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili; from the U.S. side, Lieutenant General Steven Nordhaus, Chief of Staff of the U.S. national Guard, Major General Thomas Mansino, Deputy Adjutant General for Oklahoma’s National Guard, and Brigadier General Lawrence Meunic, Deputy Adjutant General for Indiana’s National Guard participated in signing.
This pact falls under the U.S.Department of Defense’s State Partnership Program (SPP), wich includes more than 115 international partnerships worldwide. The program aims to strengthen defense and security cooperation through training, experience exchange, and support for security and stability efforts.
The agreement covers several key areas: developing joint defense capabilities; enhancing readiness within Saudi armed forces; conducting joint military exercises; advancing leadership development and strategic planning; improving crisis response management; and establishing sustainable institutional partnerships.
It also provides for exchange visits, joint field exercises between both countries’ forces, officer exchange programs, sharing expertise, organizing specialized workshops on leadership or planning topics such as artificial intelligence and crisis management. Additionally included are social and cultural projects designed to deepen cooperation between parties.
