According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency via Sputnik, Baghdad International Airport authorities on Sunday denied reports by some media outlets and social networks about hearing gunfire inside the airport.
The airport management statement said the news about gunfire sounds inside Baghdad International Airport is inaccurate and suggested these noises could have originated outside airport grounds.
It added that flights are operating regularly without any delays or interruptions.
The statement also urged media outlets to exercise caution and verify facts from official sources before publication.
Meanwhile, iraq’s state airline rejected reports regarding an emergency landing of one of its planes at Baghdad International Airport.
The airline’s statement clarified that the incident in question involved a different airline and was unrelated to Iraq airways.
Sputnik further reported that Iraqi media indicated a police officer accidentally shot himself inside the international terminal. A security source confirmed the officer used an M4 rifle and sustained serious injuries.
