According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Sky News, the Lebanese army today received and removed the first batch of weapons from the Palestinian camps of al-Rashidieh, al-Bass, and Burj al-Shimali in the city of Tyre, southern Lebanon.
So far, seven trucks carrying light weapons and B7 mortars have been taken out from these camps and delivered to the al-Shawaker base.
The disarmament process took place in the presence of officials affiliated with the Palestinian Authority as well as several Lebanese military officers.
A few days earlier, Burj al-Barajneh camp in Beirut’s southern suburb had also been disarmed. This initiative follows an agreement reached on May 21 between President Michel Aoun of Lebanon and Mahmoud Abbas, President of the Palestinian Authority.
