Istanbul Likely to Host Putin-Zelensky Meeting

Turkey’s Vice President says Russian and Ukrainian presidents will likely meet in ​Istanbul.

According ⁢to the English section of‍ webangah News Agency, citing ‍Mehr News⁤ Agency⁤ and TASS, Turkey’s Vice President Fuat Oktay announced the possibility of hosting a bilateral meeting between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, presidents of Russia ‍and Ukraine respectively.

Oktay referred to ‌Turkish President recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s efforts ⁣to resolve the Ukraine conflict, stating that Zelensky and Putin will‍ likely meet‌ in Istanbul. “Why not?” he said.

He added, “Erdoğan is a leader trusted by both sides. Concrete outcomes related to the Black⁢ Sea grain initiative and prisoner exchanges ‌were achieved here. Turkey remains ‌an option for resolving‍ the war in Ukraine.”

Erdoğan ⁣has‍ repeatedly expressed his readiness to facilitate⁢ peace talks regarding Ukraine and organize potential‍ negotiations between⁤ Russian ⁣and Ukrainian leaders. Turkey previously ​hosted‍ three rounds of talks between the two ​countries.
