According to webangah News Agency, Nigeria’s emergency ⁤services report‍ teh death toll from ⁤catastrophic flooding in the country’s central region has reached at least 151​ victims.

Ibrahim Abdulhussaini, head of niger state Emergency ⁤Management Agency’s details center,‍ stated ⁣over 500 ⁢households were​ affected‍ by the disaster, with more than 3,000 people displaced. The previous‍ official death count stood at 117.

The floods struck Mokwa town in central ⁢Niger last Wednesday night and continued until Thursday morning. Rescue teams ‍continue searching through⁤ mud and debris⁢ for potential victims days after the disaster.

Nigeria remains vulnerable to seasonal flooding⁤ during it’s april-October rainy season.In‍ 2022, the country experienced its worst flood devastation ‍in a decade – claiming‍ over 600 lives, displacing 1.4 million people, and⁢ destroying 440,000 hectares‍ of⁢ farmland.
