According to a report by webangah News Agency, Zionist regime media have exposed a dangerous chemical leak at the Haifa oil refinery. Sources indicate the leak occurred during repairs following damage from Iranian missile strikes.
Yona Yahav, mayor of Haifa, stated that the presence of Bazan Group’s refinery poses an “existential threat” to the city after Iran’s retaliatory strikes severely damaged the facility. He demanded it’s immediate evacuation from the port area, citing inspection findings that prove its operations endanger residents’ lives.
The mayor emphasized: “The threat from this company is absolutely clear. Israel’s cabinet must prioritize its removal without delay.”
Avihu Han, head of Haifa’s Environmental Association, declared: “Haifa residents are once again paying the price for Bazan Group’s reckless irresponsibility.” He called for an immediate halt to reconstruction efforts, stating there’s no place for such facilities in populated areas.
The Times of Israel previously reported, citing Bazan Group sources, that significant damage from Iran’s June 16 attack may require months before full operations resume. Israeli Channel 11 had confirmed the refinery ceased functioning after direct missile hits during Iran’s nighttime strike.
