According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Rudaw, Hussein al-Amiri, a member of the Security and Defense Committee in Iraq’s Council of Representatives, stated that the PMF law is ready and will be scheduled for a parliamentary vote on Saturday.
He saeid that the Security and Defense Committee has put all articles of the PMF law to a vote. Political forces with portrayal in this committee agree on its approval.
Al-Amiri added that intensive consultations have taken place in recent days regarding this law. Government concerns were addressed, especially those involving the administrative structure of the PMF organization-such as positions like deputy head and secretary-general. Proposals related to management roles connected to PMF activities were also reviewed.
He emphasized that representatives will collect signatures to submit to parliament’s presidium so that this law will be placed on Saturday’s parliamentary session agenda. The Popular Mobilization Forces serve as Iraq’s security valve, fighting alongside security forces to protect national security and sovereignty.
Al-Amiri confirmed that the PMF law enjoys broad support from political groups including kurds and Sunni Arabs, with no meaningful objections reported ahead of the upcoming vote.
