Dasilva: Brazil Is No Longer Dependent on the United States

Brazilian President accuses the United States of “aiding ​a coup” in Brazil and emphasizes that ‍the country ​is no longer economically dependent on Washington as before.

According to⁤ the English section of webangah News Agency, ⁤quoting Mehr news Agency ⁤and ‌RT, Luiz Inácio Lula ⁢da Silva, President of Brazil, condemned Washington’s attempts to use political pressure to ‌impose tariffs on Brazil,‍ alleging that the U.S. intended to instigate a “coup”‍ in his country.

Da Silva warned that Brazil will​ not accept ‍unfair⁣ treatment ⁢and is ⁤ready⁤ to ‍defend its interests on⁢ the global stage.

Referring to‌ recent threats ⁢from U.S. President Donald Trump about imposing 50 percent tariffs ‌on Brazilian exports, he said: “The attempt to use⁤ political tools⁤ to⁤ enforce economic sanctions against us ⁣is unacceptable.”

The‌ Brazilian president ‍also⁢ stressed that his country ⁢is no longer economically ‍dependent on the United‌ States and reaffirmed his‍ commitment⁣ to​ replacing⁤ the ⁣U.S. dollar in international trade.

Da Silva stated: “They want to end multilateralism. They want‌ a return to⁤ bilateral agreements, a system where large countries dominate smaller ones.‌ In other words, negotiating between a‌ small country⁢ and America ‌is like one factory⁣ worker among ⁢800,000 negotiating alone with management-the resulting agreement will be ‍unequal, and‍ you won’t gain⁢ anything.”

He ⁣emphasized:⁣ “We have vast territory, status, and strategic economic interests. We seek​ negotiation but from an equal position.”
