According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Palestinian Facts Center, France’s Ministry of Foreign affairs issued a statement condemning Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, for his presence in the grounds of Al-Aqsa Mosque yesterday. The ministry called this an violation of the historic status quo governing Jerusalem’s sacred sites.
Yesterday, Cairo News Network reported that Yisrael Katz, Israel’s Defense Minister, also desecrated Al-Aqsa Mosque under heavy security measures while severe restrictions were simultaneously imposed on Palestinian worshippers entering the mosque.
In addition, Itamar Ben-gvir and a number of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque on the anniversary commemorating the destruction of what Jews claim as their ancient temple within its precincts.
Israeli settlers have carried out provocative actions in recent months by organizing inflammatory tours around al-Aqsa and performing Talmudic rituals in this holy site.
Ben-Gvir had previously invaded Al-Aqsa on Jerusalem Day anniversaries as well, drawing widespread condemnation from Muslims and religious leaders across the region.
