According to the English section of webangah News Agency,quoting Mehr News Agency,Farhan Haq,Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General,told Al Jazeera that the amount of aid entering Gaza is less than half of what the population truly needs.
He said that everything currently reaching Gaza is inadequate and widespread hunger prevails in the region.
Haq criticized israel’s role, stating that the main problem lies in Israel’s full control over all border crossings and checkpoints.
He described inspections for humanitarian aid entry as extremely difficult and time-consuming. The inspection processes at the two crossings authorized for aid delivery are complex and lengthy.
Farhan Haq called for a return to the previous UN mechanism for distributing aid inside Gaza. He emphasized, “We need to revert to the distribution network formerly managed by the United Nations.”
He concluded by stressing that aid must again be distributed via trucks entering Gaza through land crossings.
