A senior Russian official announced the lifting of restrictions on deploying⁤ intermediate-range missiles, describing it as a response⁢ to NATO threats.

According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency⁣ and Qatar’s⁣ Al jazeera network, dmitry ⁣Medvedev,Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, stated that Moscow’s decision to ⁣lift the ban⁣ on deploying intermediate- and short-range missiles is a direct response to NATO’s⁢ opposed policies.

He emphasized⁢ that⁤ lifting ‌these restrictions represents a new ⁢reality for Russia’s adversaries, ‍wich⁤ they must take seriously.

Medvedev ⁣warned that this move is only the first step ⁤and that⁢ Western parties should ‍expect further measures from Moscow.

Earlier today, the Russian Foreign ministry issued a statement condemning‍ Western actions related⁣ to ⁤deploying intermediate-range missiles ‍as a direct threat to Russia’s security. The ministry said these moves have increased⁢ missile capabilities near Russia’s borders, ⁣creating a direct strategic danger.

The ministry added that Moscow no longer considers ⁢itself‌ bound⁤ by⁤ self-imposed limits‍ on ground-based intermediate- and short-range ‍missile deployments. The conditions justifying unilateral suspension⁣ of⁤ such ⁤missile⁢ placements have ceased to exist.

The statement also noted that Russia’s‌ call‌ for reciprocal suspension⁣ of weapons systems incompatible with these missiles has been⁢ met with‌ counteractions from NATO. The⁢ united States and its allies‌ have not ⁤only openly announced plans to deploy ground-based intermediate-range ⁢missiles ⁤in various regions but ⁢have also made significant progress in implementing these plans.
